Meet the Instructors
Our Driving Instructors are passionate about passing on driving skills and knowledge, and this is a major part of what motivates them to assist our students with becoming better, safer drivers.
John was born in England where he met his Kiwi wife moving to NZ in 1998. He obtained his P endorsement, transitioned from taxis into buses before setting up his own driving school Alpha School of Motoring in early 2005. Expanding his skill set from cars into heavy vehicles class 2 and 4 he worked as an NZTA / Mito registered, driver trainer assessor for Go Bus, covering the South Island. After 5 years in that position then a short time in the trucking industry he has now joining the Proactive Drive team in August 2019.
John comes to us with a lot of experience in teaching practical driving skills to people differing cultural, educational and challenging backgrounds.
Tim is employed by the Trust as Programme Manager, and is undertaking a transformation as the Trust moves to be the link between many parties working in the Road Safety space.
With a background in the NZ Police, Tim worked in a number of roles including time taking sole charge for small, rural South Island towns. His first-hand experience in these communities instilled his passion to make a difference through driver training (he is also a qualified driving instructor) to those who were unable to afford or access driving lessons – our youth in particular.
